  • 4. What does the Edison logo represent ?

    The Edison trademark, which was adopted in 2003, was born from a suggestion that is as simple as it is rich: the roundness of the Earth, the sun and, ideally, the sky. These elements, which are interpreted as energy's original elements, are represented in a composition of arcs of circles.

    The visual impact of the trademark is of a dynamic environment which in the green finds its integration with the primary colours of blue and yellow. The proposition reminds one of nature, tranquility and balance; but also of rebirth and fertility.

  • 5. What are Edison's main business areas ?

    The Edison group work at all stages of the energy chain, from sourcing to production, distribution and sale of electricity and gas. Production is by thermoelectricity, hydro power, and wind farms. Edison's work in the hydrocarbons sector includes dozens of concessions and exploration licences, reserves of hydrocarbons and thousands of kilometres of pipelines for distribution to end users.

    Edison's electricity generation plant are situated mainly in Italy but its concessions and exploration licences also extend abroad, to Norway, Croatia, Egypt, the Ivory Coast, Algeria, Qatar and Senegal.

    Edison sells electricity to the free market, the Electricity Power Exchange, GRTN SpA (CIP 6) and captive customers. Edison also supplies gas to thermoelectric power stations, industrial and residential customers, and distribution companies in Italy and elsewhere.

    In December 2008, the Board of Directors of Edison approved the Company’s 2009-2014 Industrial Plan.This Plan, which reaffirms the objectives presented at the end of 2007, provides a further boost to all of the Company’s businesses both in Italy and on international markets. More specifically, Edison, will leverage the important investments in the past and the high flexibility and efficiency of its production facilities to consolidate its position as the second largest operator in Italy’s electric power market and will further expand its presence in the downstream segment, thereby achieving an increasingly balanced position between production and sales. In the natural gas market, Edison will make further progress in completing the development of transnational infrastructural projects and in achieving natural gas supply independence, thus confirming its position as Italy’s second largest natural gas operator, with further growth opportunities in the final market (downstream).
