Green Microgym, where athletes generate energy
During the Olympics, Edison`s initiative in Beijing "Row a minute like a champ" had a big success. Guests and athletes were asked to row a rowing machine for solidarity. For each "Row Like a Champ" minute Edison has donated 50 euros to Telethon, an Italian funding program for research on genetic diseases. When I knew about this initiative I thought how much energy is produced by those who train for work or for fun. Just think about how much energy we could produce from someone working out. If you can't imagine it, just go and visit the Green Microgym in Portland, Oregon (US). It is the only fitness facility in the world running on its own power, using a combination of solar and human power. In fact, they have a Team Dynamo and Spin Bikes that generate up to 750 watts per hour. Well, I'm lazy, but now I'm starting to think that working out can be useful.
